Mechanical Design - Rough Design Sketch

Figure 1: A Rough 3D Sketch of Mechanical Design
A rough 3D model of our design is depicted in Figure 1. The swivel system (indicated by two blue cylinders) will serve as the base of our chair. The top cylinder (the lighter blue cylinder) will have a rubber band like ring around it. The ring will be move clockwise and counter clockwise (depending upon left or right eye movement, respectively) via a small motor (indicated by the light blue box). On top of the swivel system there will be a swivel chair. Connecting the bottom of the seat to the swivel base, there will be a linear actuator (shown in gray). The linear actuator is what will mechanically move the chair up and down (depending upon up or down eye movement, respectively). The swivel chair will never be "locked" in a fix height because the lever will be bolted to the bottom of the base. This allows the up and down motion to be solely controlled by the linear actuator.
The swivel system consisting of the blue swivel base and the green motor will act a separate system from the up and down motion. The will operate on different axes and will not interfere with each other's motion.
